How Does It Look & Feel?
VooPoo's tagline for the G3's launch is "shine even brighter" - and they have certainly tried to capture that with this kit's design. Don't panic if you prefer a more understated vape kit though, as there are plenty of colourways to choose from when buying the Argus G3 ranging from subtle midnight or carbon black to the more flashy diamond white or diamond pink (complete with rhinestone studs around the TFT screen).
VooPoo have achieved a premium look and feel with the Argus G3, the zinc alloy that encases the battery feels solid and premium in your hand, without adding excess weight. The airflow slider is very smooth, and the function button, despite having a little rattle on the model I used for testing before writing this review, delivers a satisfying tactile click when pressed which just adds to the overall high-quality feel of the device.
Further adding to the stylishness of the G3, the 0.96-inch TFT full-colour screen clearly displays all the info you could need while vaping. It even has three customisable themes to choose from complete with unique animations for each - while this is more style than substance, it will definitely appeal to vapers who enjoy making their kit feel a little more personalised.
Is It Easy To Use?
Put simply, yes, the Argus G3 is a very easy-to-use vape kit. With its automatic power setting and simple functionality making it ideal for new vapers looking for a more premium way to start their vaping journey.
Mor experienced vapers shouldn't shy away from it because of this however, as while the G3 doesn't have advanced firing modes like the ECO or PWR modes offered by the likes of the Xros 5, the G3 does have customisable manual wattage adjustment. Paired with the airflow control, this allows for enough customisation to keep experienced vapers like myself more than satisfied.
The device is inhale-activated only, so there is no manual firing button. This is handy as it reduces the risk of accidentally firing the kit while it's in your pocket or bag.
The side-mounted function button handles everything from accessing menus, wherein you can change the device's display theme and clear the puff counter etc, to manually adjusting the wattage output. This one-button operation works in the same way as most modern pod kits, with differing numbers of clicks accessing the different options (we will explain how this works in detail further on in the review).
Setting Up: How To Use Xros Vape Pods
Right out of the box you will receive a 0.4ohm and 0.7ohm refillable Argus V2 top-fill vape pod. These pods have built-in coils and feature VooPoo's latest iCOSM Code design.
In a nutshell, Argus iCOSM Code mesh coils can:
- Boost flavour thanks to a larger mesh coil, wider airflow and smart flavour-interpretation.
- Deliver a smoother vape thanks to their "mega core" offering better airflow.
- Enhanced coil lifespan and flavour delivery thanks to their unique "golden cotton" wick.
- Cleaner vaping thanks to their "30 day liquid-seal shield" achieved with a copper sleeve that enhances e-liquid wicking, reducing the risk of leaks.
iCOSM Code tech really helps the Argus to compete with other brands like Vaporesso and their patented COREX Mesh. I can honestly say the flavour delivery and lifespan of these coils is superb, and is arguably the biggest feature justifying the cost of this kit vs other competitors.
To get started with the Argus G3, you'll need to set up a fresh Argus pod according to the following steps:
- Remove the pod from your G3 battery (if pre-installed), or pop it out of its foil blister pack.
- Carefully pull the silicone tab on the side of the pod, exposing the filling port.
- Angle the pod so the filling port is the highest point.
- Pop the top of your e-liquid bottle into the filling port.
- Gently squeeze the bottle to fill the Argus pod, taking care not to overfill.
- Put the silicone bung back in place to cover the port.
- Put the pod back into your battery, allow it to absorb for a minute or two, and away you go.
Top Tip:
The latest Argus pod's mega-core might improve airflow a lot, but it also effectively bisects the pod e-liquid chamber.
When filling, I found the e-liquid would only fill up one half of the pod at first, sometimes needing to be angled and shaken a little to get it to squeeze past the core and allow me to properly fill the pod - keep this in mind when refilling your Argus pods to avoid mess or only getting a half-full pod.

The Best E-Liquids To Use With The Argus G3
The Argus G3 is primarily designed for use with 50-50 style e-liquids, including both traditional freebase and nicotine salt varieties. High-VG vapers will struggle to get the most from this kit and should look for something more tailored to sub-ohm vaping.
Freebase 50/50 e-liquid works best with:

In my experience testing this device, I found that above all else, the Argus G3 is amazing when paired with nic salt e-liquids.
The double-concentrated flavours used in recipes like our Bar Salt range are brought to life by the iCOSM Code mesh tech, delivering a really enjoyable vape even when the coils are close to the end of their lifespan.
If you are looking for an amazing alternative to the disposable vaping experience, the Argus G3 is a great option because of how well it works with nic salts.
Navigating The Argus G3's Menu
Navigating the Argus G3's menus is really simple; it's all handled by the function button found on the side of the device.
The device manual will explain everything you need to know, but in simple terms this is how to navigate the devices functions:
- 3 clicks turn the device on
- 2 clicks open the mode selection menu where you can choose different themes
- 3 clicks (while the device is on) open the power menu for variable wattage, with subsequent clicks increasing the power by 1 watt up to a maximum of 30
- 5 clicks open the function menu where you can power off the device, clear the puff counter, or lock the function button to prevent accidentally pressing it while on the go
Xros 5 Battery Life & Charging
The G3 has one of the biggest batteries we've seen in an Argus device, 1500mAh, and it really pays dividends during daily use.
I am quite a heavy vaper, and I usually had the power set at around 12-15 watts when using the G3 with my preferred nic salts and the 0.7ohm Argus pod. Even with these settings, I was able to get the best part of a day's vaping from a full charge, which beats out many competitors I've tried over the years.
As an experiment, I tried the 1.0ohm coil, with the power set at 10 watts using a 6mg freebase menthol e-liquid, and with this setup I actually got through a full day, and part of the following morning before needing to plug it in to recharge, which is fantastic if you are an active person or travel a lot with your vape kit.
When it comes to charging, the G3 does not disappoint. Thanks to the advertised 5V/3A fast charging, the USB-C cable took it from flat to full in an amazing 30 minutes even when plugged into a laptop.
If you are willing to sacrifice a little vapour production by having the wattage set a little lower, the G3 can be an all-day-vaping powerhouse. Flavour purists shouldn't worry either, because those impressive coils we mentioned earlier in this review deliver phenomenal flavour even at lower power.
Should You Buy The Argus G3 Vape Kit By VooPoo?
Absolutely - while the G3 does have a slightly inflated price tag vs some competitors, it's build quality, battery life and overall performance more than justify the expense.
Through rigorous trials not limited to my own somewhat excessive vaping frequency, the G3 never skipped a beat. The only drawback worth noting is the issue of refilling the pods, where that mega-core gets in the way a little. That, however, is a small price to pay for the amazing airflow and flavour clarity it offers in exchange.
The G3 is a great blend of form and function, with entry-level accessibility and enough customisation to keep most experienced vapers satisfied to boot. Not to mention the cross-compatibility of the Argus pods means if you already have some lying around from your current or an older kit, you can still make use of them after buying the G3.
