Innokin Plexus Go: An Honest Vape Kit Review

The release of the Plexus Go marks 10 years of Innokin's work on pen style vape kits. In accordance with this milestone, Innokin have released the Plexus Go as a display of their finest works. Despite the boom in pod-style vape kits, Innokin continue to innovate into pen kits such as this one.

The Plexus Go is only £9.99, but packs 20W output, compatibility with freebase and nic salt e-liquids and the option to change airflow into a small and compact device. By all accounts, it's certainly worth considering as a budget vape kit option.

I've put this device to the test for some time, and will go into the pros and cons of it in this blog. Read on to better understand the features of this budget, but powerful kit, as well as if it's right for your own vaping needs!

About Innokin & The Plexus Go

Innokin are one of the biggest vaping companies, founded in 2011 but have developed their first pen-style device in 2015. Despite pod kits becoming more popular amongst vapers, Innokin remain tapped into the pen-style market, creating kits that perform equally as well, and are appreciated by pen vapers.

The Plexus Go releases alongside the Plexus Pro (as pictured), which is a higher-tech version suited for intermediate-advanced vapers, or those with a higher prince point in mind.

How Does It Look & Feel?

Being a pen kit, the Plexus Go may look quite different to most modern vapes, that newer vapers and disposable vape users will be familiar with.

The device is slim, lightweight and sleek, fitting in your pocket, or choice of baggage very easily. The stylistic options of Moonlight Silver, Midnight Black, Sakura Pink and Indigo Blue cover all bases. I personally used the Indigo Blue version, and love how the colour complements the metallic feature.

It fits comfortably in hand and in pocket, and the ergonomics of this device may be preferable to some vapers as a pen kit. I personally like both, and while each have their benefits, the overall difference is quite negligible.

Overall, I'd recommend the Plexus Go as a well-suited all day device for any vaper. It very sufficiently works and is comfortable, with enough stylistic choices to boot.

Is It Easy To Use?

As cited by Innokin themselves, the Plexus Go aims to be lightweight, portable and effortless. While effortless may be a stretch, it's certainly a simplistic device that most vapers can pick up and use from the get go.

I can vouch for the portability of this device however, being sleek and lightweight. It made a great all-day vape kit.

It is well-suited for beginner vapers, functioning by a single button and airflow slider. I felt that despite the adjustments to the airflow, draws remained consistent with good flavour.

Being somewhat of a newer vaper myself, the device was self-intuitive, and within mere minutes I had a full grip of how it worked. I'd place the Innokin Plexus Go as easy to use.

Setting Up: How To Use Plexus Go Cartridges

The Innokin Plexus Go arrives with a 0.8ohm cartridge. Out of the options available, 0.8ohms will be most flexible for handling freebase or nic salt e-liquid.

Setup is relatively simple, with a fill port located at the top of the device, accessed by sliding it to the side.

Plexus Go cartridges are equipped with new iTaste technology, emphasising flavours with every hit.

The new iTaste tech enables the Plexus Go to:

  • Emphasise flavours in your e-liquids
  • Utilise your e-liquids more efficiently
  • Extend coil lifespan
  • Better device performance and battery usage
  • Encourages extra flavour from nic salts and freebase equally

To get started with the Plexus Go, you'll need to set up a fresh Plexus cartridge and follow the steps below:

  1. Remove the cartridge from your Plexus Go battery (if pre-installed) and remove any protective film from the contact points.
  2. Locate the fill port and open it outwards.
  3. Insert your e-liquid bottle tip into the fill port (located at the top of the cartridge)
  4. Gently squeeze the e-liquid to fill the Plexus cartridge, making sure not to overfill and to seal the port after finishing.
  5. Put it back into your battery, allowing it to absorb for a few minutes. After this, your device is ready for use!

The Best E-Liquids To Use With The Plexus Go

The Plexus Go works well with most e-liquids, particularly with freebase and nic salts. I would recommend against using high-VG e-liquid with this kit, due to wattage not being sufficiently high enough for it.

Freebase 50/50 e-liquid works best with:

  • 0.8ohm Plexus Pod
  • 1.2ohm Plexus Pod

50/50 nic salt e-liquid works best with:

  • 0.6ohm Plexus Pod
  • 0.8ohm Plexus pod

High-VG e-liquid is not recommended for use with the Plexus Go.

The Plexus Go conveniently arrives with a 0.8ohm cartridge, meaning I had the option to start with freebase or nic salts from the get-go. I tried LiQuid's own Exotic Fruits nic salt vape juice with the 0.8ohm cartridge provided, and found it paired great with them. If you're looking for more flavour, the 0.6ohm cartridge will certainly do the trick, especially granted the new iTaste tech.

Similarly, I tried freebase at the same measurement and while 1.2ohms may suit some users better, 0.8ohms worked sufficiently with the Pink Raspberry Lemonade vape juice I tried.

Navigating The Plexus Go's Features

The Plexus Go will automatically adjust wattage based on the cartridge inserted into it. No other inputs are required from the user outside of airflow adjustment, which can be left alone if unsure.

There are no menu functions in the Plexus Go. If you'd prefer a kit with a menu interface, the Plexus Pro has menu functions, but is a more higher budget and advanced option.

Plexus Go Battery Life & Charging

The Plexus Go has a 1,000 mAh battery, which isn't necessarily ground breaking, nor bad. It's quite okay and down the middle compared to most vapes.

The battery should last you the full day, seeing as the device doesn't have intensive power functions, 1,000 mAh is just enough. By charging at the end of the day everyday, I never found myself short of battery life.

My main gripe with the battery function however is the LED that singals battery life.

The battery indicator displays as follows accoording to the battery level:

  • Green Light 100%-30%
  • Orange Light - 30%-10%
  • Red Light 10%-0%

If you haven't already noticed, there's a steep drop between the green and orange battery life levels. Ideally for me personally, I'd like to know when my battery is at about half percentage, so I can prepare to charge accordingly in due time.

With the light only changing below 30% however, I had no clue whether my battery was anywhere from 100% to 31%, until the device hit this threshold. Although I still had due time to charge, it's quite inconvenient if you're out and about and can't act fast to charge your kit on time. It's worth keeping this in mind.

Should You Buy The Plexus Go Kit By Innokin?

At £9.99, the Innokin Plexus Go makes a great budget kit suitable for beginner vapers, or anyone looking for a simplistic but reliable kit. It's rare to find reliable vape kits under the £10 mark, so rest assured that you're getting the best bang for your buck.

The reliability is enforced by 10 years of work by Innokin on pen-style kits, which truly shines through on this device. Other touches such as the new iTaste tech really round off the Plexus Go as unique and strong at its price point.

Compared to its twin release, the Plexus Pro, it performs just as sufficiently, with the caveat of a couple less features. Otherwise, it holds as a strong performing kit in its own right.

My only real notable issue with the kit is the battery LED. While there's no trouble with the performance of it, I feel that Innokin could've programmed it to communicate better. Nonetheless, this is my own personal outlook, and others may see the battery level colour timings as fine otherwise.

Despite this, I would certainly recommend the Plexus Go universally, to beginner and more experienced vapers as a simple, budget and reliable kit. E
