The first vaping device was launched in the UK almost 2 decades ago in 2005, but from humble beginnings various brands have produced some of the weirdest vape kits you could imagine. From innovation bordering on insanity to technology nobody ever asked for, here at LiQuid we have shared some serious laughs over the years at the expense of some of these weird and wacky vapes.
There’s been a huge variety of perfectly normal vape kits that have been launched across the years. Pen vapes, that evolved into bigger sub ohm vape devices, which then scaled right back in size with the rise to popularity of pod vape kits, followed by the takeover of the uber-simple disposable vape.
We’re not here to talk about plain and simple vape kits however, instead we’re going to pick out some of the weirdest, wackiest, and arguably worst vape kits which have been released over the years. We know that there are plenty of custom-built weird vapes out there that reach even greater levels of bizarre, however in this list we will stick to vape kits released by officially recognised brands intended for mass production and retail.
You might find it hard to believe that some of these weird vape kits made it onto the market, and even more so why their manufacturers went to the trouble of developing them. Some of these weird vape kits are still available to buy today, and shockingly are not even that old!
Have you ever been using your vape and wished that you had a way of telling the time in unison? If you have, Uwell (the brand behind the popular Caliburn vape kit series) have the answer to this problem: The Amulet - the first ever vape watch!
Launched in 2019, the idea behind this wacky vape device is that you would wear it like a normal watch, as it comes with a silicone wrist strap which carries the device clipped into a cradle, and when you fancy having a quick puff, simply unclip it and vape away!
It’s a small 370mah battery powered pod system which uses 1.6ohm pre-installed coils in Amulet refillable vape pods, optimised for 50-50 vape juice like our original £1 range.
Whilst this is a very conveniently sized on the go vape device, as well as being able to display the time on the LED screen , is there really any need to combine a watch and a vape together?! When these first launched as well, they were a staggering £34.99 RRP! It’s safe to say that this “revolutionary” vape device didn’t take off as hoped. The tiny battery won’t hold up to frequent vaping, meaning before long you’ll be left without the ability to vape, or tell the time.
That’s right, it’s an MP3 playing vape device! It even has a headphone jack so you can plug your cans in and not disturb anyone around you while you listen to music and vape away. This device came out a long time ago, when MP3’s were still a thing and Spotify and Apple Music were merely a pipe dream, so at the time this was “cutting edge” technology, but in the modern day in the shadow of omnipotent smartphones it really feels like a weird vape relic that nobody asked for.
The RRP of this vape device was £89.99-£99.99 which is just absurd when you think about it, but then again, I suppose you are getting a 4-in-1 vape kit!
Vaping has always seen its fair share of bad press, with many people believing that vaping is a gateway for children to start smoking because of the sweet and tempting vape juice flavours as well as the appealing colourful designs of vape devices as well. So much so that disposable vapes have since been banned in the UK in 2025.
Before the rise of disposable vapes, the majority of vape manufacturers were keeping it simple when it came to creating their vape devices, with the exception of a few particularly flashy sub-ohm vape kits like the T-Priv from SMOK. Flying in the face of subtlety and compliance however, Lost Vape came along and released one of the most insane, brightly coloured, weird vape kits seen to this day, that also doubled up as a portable games console!
As you can see, the device was a shape reminiscent of a vintage games console controller with an 80’s neon colour palette to match, and even has D-Pad navigation as well as 3 buttons to cycle through the games which are pre-installed in this weird vape kit, with a 1.7inch OLED screen so you can game with ease! The games include a classic 8-bit style slot machine, a puff count competition game which we feel goes against the ideal of vaping in moderation, and perhaps the most controversial – a digital Tamagotchi style pet.
The mind certainly boggles with just how this wacky vape kit passed the regulatory checks to be made available on the retail market, especially in light of the youth access issues in the UK currently – don't expect this controversial kit to be available on LiQuid anytime soon!
SMOK are absolute juggernauts in the vaping world and went through a prolonged spell of churning out new vape kits almost every single month (with mixed success) around 2016/2017. They’re still producing vape kits now but have slowed down as they attempt go for quality over quantity.
One standout kit from their illustrious range is the SMOK Mag sub ohm vape kit, and we’ll explain why it has landed on this list!
This was a dual 18650 battery vape device, capable of chucking out some serious clouds if you cranked it all the way up to 225 watts paired withh some High VG vape juice (if you ever managed to do this and not burn your throat lining, you must be super-human)
The design of this weird vape device was certainly striking, with the fire button being a trigger on the side of the device, which is reminiscent of something considerably less legal to fire than a vape…but then comes the battery compartment. It was located on the base of the device, and you pressed a small silver button on the front of the device which “quick-released” the battery compartment from the bottom of the device. The batteries then slotted into the holder and you clipped it back into place…again, which is where the “Mag” moniker comes from.
Despite being a Chinese company, SMOK have certainly leaned into America’s 2nd amendment rights with their promotions of this weird vape - below is a direct quote from the SMOK website:
That’s right, lock and load your batteries and hear the pleasant sound of a real gun! It’s honestly mind blowing that something like this has been given as a unique selling point and it’s why it’s staked its claim on this list as one of the weirdest vape kit concepts EVER!
The Mag isn’t SMOK’s only weird vape kit that they have released over the years. A few years prior, they released the SMOK Guardian…an electronic vape pipe! In fact, SMOK are the only major brand to continue to offer a pipe style vape kit, meaning there must be an audience out there for them – but then again who doesn’t want to vape like Sherlock Holmes?
Aiming this device firmly at pipe smokers and enthusiasts, the Guardian aimed to provide the perfect alternative for pipe smoking by having a mouth to lung tank which screwed onto the mod section, which was in the shape of a traditional pipe. It even had variable wattage settings up to a maximum 40 watts meaning you could really ramp it up and get some serious clouds while looking like a noble gentleman, quilted smoking jacket on with pipe in hand.
Safe to say, these did not take off as hoped, and they soon became classed as more of a novelty vape device rather than a practical vape kit which is why they have been largely relegated to weird vape lists like this one.
We’re now straying off the beaten track a little and picking out a weird vape from a lesser known brand, Lotus Vape Technologies – The VapeCase phone adapter.
As you can see from the iPhone in the picture, this isn’t a recently released product (we wonder why…) but a few years back, some manufacturers did try and cater to the tech enthusiasts that couldn’t bear to put their phone down to have a few puffs on their vape, so they combined the two and made a vape infused phone case!
Utilizing prefilled pods that clipped into the top of the phone case, this gave users a chance to not have their texting or gaming sessions interrupted, instead being able to lift up their phone and vape without breaking concentration. It’s wacky, it’s weird and overall…it absolutely did not take off as they had hoped.
That brings this list of some of the weirdest vape kits which have been released over the years to a close and we hope you’ve enjoyed finding out about them as much as we have. Vaping enthusiasts have plenty of niche tastes, and while we are sure there are some people out there who like the idea of owning one of these weird vapes, we couldn’t help but chuckle at the concepts these companies tried to embrace.
If you’re on the hunt for a vaping device, we’d recommend just sticking to a basic run of the mill kit and not fall into the trap of gimmicky vape kits. A lot of these devices we’ve mentioned are from yesteryear albeit some still being available for purchase, and regulations are considerably tighter now than they were a few years ago, which we have to say is for the best!
Choose from any of the fantastic vape kits that we have on offer here at LiQuid and stay on the right side of regulations, and away from the gimmicks!
