Honest Review: The Vaporesso Xros Pro
We have recently added the Vaporesso Xros Pro vape pod device to our already amazing and varied range of refillable vape kits that are available to buy online from us here at LiQuid. We want to make sure our customers have access to real-world feedback about our products, so they can buy with total confidence that they are making the best decision of their vaping journey.
With this in mind, our product expert James has been putting the Xros Pro through its paces for the last few weeks to give you an honest Vaporesso Xros Pro review.
About the Vaporesso Xros Pro
The Xros Pro is an advanced pod vape kit which, while compact, is loaded with cool features that vapers will love. It's the latest device in the Xros series made by leading vape kit brand Vaporesso and sits alongside the Xros 3, Xros 3 Mini and Xros 3 Nano.
The Xros Pro separates itself from the others in this series with it’s newly added features. The standout feature being adjustable wattage, available if you’re using the 0.4ohm pods which comes in the box alongside the device.
It also has an increased battery size compared to previous Xros models, adjustable airflow and fast charging capabilities - you can see why they call this the Pro!

What's in the box?
The following comes with every Vaporesso Xros Pro Kit:
- Xros Pro device
- 2x 0.4ohm Xros Pods
- Braided USB-C charging cable
- User manual
Little things like the USB-C charging cable being braided gives it some bonus points from me. This is because it gives that little bit more durability as well as denoting the brand's commitment to high quality, something Vaporesso has always done with their devices.

Xros Pro Features
The Xros Pro is absolutely jam-packed with different features compared to the other devices in the Xros range.
The standout feature for me is the fact that the Xros Pro has variable wattage settings - something no other Xros device has had before. The only downside to this is that you can only use the variable wattage settings if you’re using the 0.4ohm Vaporesso Xros pods which come with the kit.
Other features include:
- Maximum power: 30 Watts
- Adjustable airflow
- 1200mah battery
- USB-C fast charging
- Compatible with all Xros Pod options
Whilst the Xros Pro comes with 2x 0.4ohm pods which are mainly designed for restricted direct-to-lung vaping, you can use other existing Xros pods as they will fit the Xros Pro.
If you were to use any of the other Xros pods, you won’t be able to adjust the wattage on the device. You can still choose between the three different modes which the Xros Pro offers, which are:
Eco Mode - This preserves your battery life, it is essentially a low-power mode.
Normal Mode - As implied, just a standard normal mode without any battery saving or boosting features.
Boost Mode - Boost mode will give you a bit more of a punchier hit when you inhale, but will also affect your battery life more intensely.
First impressions
When I took the cellophane wrapper off and slid the main box out of the outer sleeve, I was greeted with the sight of the Xros Pro device itself which already had the pod installed in the device, as well as a spare pod (sealed) and the USB-C charging lead.
Taking the device out of the box for the first time and holding it in hand, the thing which stood out to me is the weight of the device. Having previously used a Geekvape Sonder Q for the last 12 months which is notably quite lightweight, the Xros Pro is certainly a weighty device weighing in at a total of 86 grams. The weight isn't a bad thing though, as this shows to me the quality of the device which feels amazing and robust when in hand.
It has a removable sticker on the front of the device which clearly explains how many clicks of the fire button you need to do (within 2 seconds) to activate the different features, they are:
2 Clicks- Turns the light and screen off to preserve battery life
3 Clicks- Cycles through the mode settings. If using the 0.4ohm pods which come with the kit, this will bring up the wattage and you then click the button to increase it by 0.5w increments. Ranges from 15w-30w with the 0.4ohm pod installed.
4 Clicks- Resets the puff counter
5 Clicks- Turns the device on or off
I removed the sticker and 5 quick clicks turned the device on, with a vibrant display showcasing the Vaporesso logo, which vanished after a short time. When cycling through the different features, if you leave the device to be idle for a couple of seconds, the screen will then go off and go back to normal.

The pod that arrives with the device has a safety seal sticker on the base. Once this is removed and you drop the pod into the device, it automatically registers as the 0.4ohm pod and puts itself into "Power Mode," enabling you to change the wattage settings to your desired power levels. You'll notice that each pod has a big brown coloured rubber bung at the base. This is to make the pods 2ml so that they're TPD compliant.
On the back of the device is the adjustable airflow control, which is a line of dots with a slider that you can adjust to suit your preferences. On the side of the device is another sliding button allowing you to lock or unlock your device, which is handy if you're carrying it in your pocket or bag and do not want to keep turning the device on and off as this will prevent accidental firing.
The device comes with 65% charge which is a pretty good charge level straight out of the box. This means you can get stuck straight into using your new kit without having to wait for it to charge. There's a small strip of light on the front of the device which illuminates when the device is used to show battery level too. Green indicates high charge, blue for medium charge and red for low charge.
So with everything set up and ready to go, I was ready to put it through its paces to produce my review of the Xros Pro!
My vaping experience with the Xros Pro
Filling up the device is really simple and easy to do. You simply apply a bit of pressure onto the mouthpiece and push backwards and it snaps/pops off, which reveals the fill port at the top of the pod indicated by a red bung, so it's pretty clear where to fill up with vape juice.
I used Berry Lemonade Bar Salts 20mg as my vape juice of choice and filled up the pod, leaving it for a good 10 minutes for the juice to properly absorb into the coil cotton. This is something I insist you must do with every new vape pod that you use to avoid burnt hits and ruining your coil.
I kept the wattage on the 25w which it was automatically set to, and closed off one of the airflow holes on the back of the device so that I got a true restricted direct-to-lung hit. Opting to utilise the draw activate feature rather than use the power button, (you can do either or which is good,) I then took my first puff with the Xros Pro and I was instantly amazed.
It over exceeded my expectations - the restricted direct-to-lung hit was incredibly punchy on the throat and the flavour it produced from the vape juice was incredible. The cloud production was also very good on the exhale. I had a couple more puffs on 25 watts before deciding to turn it down a notch to 20 watts and see what it was like.
I found this to be my sweet spot as it was still a punchy RDTL vape, but not too overpowering which I found the 25 watts setting to be, so bare that in mind if you're using this kit. If this is your first pod kit, I really would recommend tapering the wattage to the lowest possible and raising it in small increments until you find what works best for you.
I did experiment with running it at full power of 30w, and it really does deliver a strong and punchy hit on the inhale, and this certainly will be overwhelming to those who are not used to using high powered devices. I also tried it on the other end of the scale and vape it at the lowest settings possible and it was a pleasant, smooth vape at 15w that still delivered a good amount of vapour cloud as well as good flavour.

The Xros Pods
As mentioned, you get two Xros Pro pods in the box alongside the device. They are both 2ml pods, to adhere to TPD regulations, and both of the pods use a 0.4ohm coil which is already preinstalled in the pods and the pods are fully sealed. So, when the coil burns out within the pod, you just throw away the used pod and replace it with a new one.
Other Xros pods are compatible to use with the Xros Pro, and if you used any of the other pods that are not the 0.4ohm ones, you will not be able to adjust the wattage on them, but you will be able to cycle through the different modes that I mentioned above.
The Xros pods are available in different ohm resistances which can cater to different vaping styles such as the 1.0 or 1.2 ohm resistance which will give a true mouth-to-lung vaping experience.

What vape juice works best with the Xros Pro?
Given the fact that the Xros Pro is compatible with any of the other Xros pods, you can use any type of vape juice in the pods that are suitable for the coil resistance.
For example, if you're using the 1.0 ohm or 1.2 ohm pods, these work perfectly with either freebase nicotine vape juice or nicotine salts. It will give a smooth, punchy throat hit on the inhale, packed full of flavour and only produce a subtle amount of vapour.
If you're wanting to use the 0.6ohm or 0.8ohm pods, you can still use either of the above mentioned vape juices, just adjust the airflow a little and you'll get a nice restricted direct-to-lung vaping experience. The throat hit won't be as punchy as well as the draw not being as tight, but you'll still get a satisfying hit.
If you use the 0.4ohm pods which come with the Xros Pro, you can use high VG vape juice in the pods and adjust the wattage to a higher setting to get a good direct-to-lung vape experience. You can also adjust the airflow to make it a bit more restricted if you wanted to as well.
That's the good thing about Vaporesso, is that they give you the capability to use any of the Xros pods that are available as they are compatible with the Xros Pro.
As mentioned, I used bar salts 20mg as my primary vape juice of choice, and this was perfectly fine in the 0.4ohm pods and didn't cause any leakage or spit back of any kind from the coil.
As well as this, I also used the spare pod which came with the kit to run some 50-50 Freebase vape juice from our original £1 e-liquid range. I used double menthol 6mg and again, had no issues of leakage or the juice spitting from the coil when inhaling.
This really showed the versatility of the pods which Vaporesso have created, and I was very impressed at how they could use either type of vape juices without any problems arising.
Charging and battery life
One of the main features which the Xros Pro boasts is a bigger battery compared to the Xros 3. The Xros Pro battery is 1200mah battery compared to the 1000mah utilised by the Xros 3. It might not sound a lot, but the difference can be quite significant for how long your vape will last you throughout the day, before needing to go on charge.
To me, the battery performance is arguably the best part of the Xros Pro and I'll explain why. Like I said, it comes with 65% charge straight out of the box, so I wanted to see how long this would last before I needed to charge it. I used it as my sole vape device for near enough 1 and a half days, playing around with different power settings, and it wasn't until the following evening it needed to go on charge as the battery finally dwindled down to 5%.
I put it on charge using the cable which came with it into my 5W plug and it charged from 5% to 100% in...35 minutes. Yes you read that right, 35 minutes to charge 95% bringing it to full charge, I was amazed to see that, and still am now at the time of writing this! I get at least a full days use with the Xros Pro when it is fully charged, and I'm a frequent vaper throughout the course of the day. Plus, I'm not left for long without it thanks to the incredible fast charging capabilities.

Final thoughts
This is, in my opinion, is one of the best vape kits that I've used over the course of my vaping journey. Vaporesso have managed to absolutely knock it out of the park by creating a supreme vape device in the form of the Xros Pro.
The Xros Pro delivers an absolutely exceptional vaping experience from the minute you switch it on. Incredible flavour from your vape juice, a strong and punchy RDTL vaping experience and a good amount of vapour cloud production to cap it all off nicely.
I would say that this device is best suited for more "intermediate" vapers who are familiar with adjusting power settings and may not rely on a MTL vape, as if you use the 0.4ohm pods which come with the kit, you're going to get more of a RDTL vape experience rather than MTL.
Alternatively, it can also be good for beginner vapers. If the other Xros pods such as the 1.0ohm or 1.4ohm are used, it automatically sets the wattage, and you can just adjust the mode settings rather than wattage, which is a beginner-friendly feature.
You can buy the Vaporesso Xros Pro vape kit from us here at LiQuid for £29.99, and this comes with 1 free 10ml e-liquid of your choice as well. Don't hesitate, buy today! Vaporesso Xros Pro pod kit frequently asked questions
How long do the Vaporesso Xros Pods last?
I've used a variety of flavours from our Bar Salts range over the course of the last 7 days in my Xros Pro and my original pod is still showing good signs of life with no discolouration of my e-liquids or any burnt taste from the coil when I inhale.
I've primarily used it on 20 watts for the duration of the last week, so bare in mind your coil may not last as long if you used it on the highest power which is 30 watts.
How do I turn the Xros on and off?
Press the power button 5 times (within 2 seconds) and this will turn your device on or off.
How do I lock the Xros Pro?
By using the sliding button on the side of the Xros Pro. You can push it up to lock your device and push it down to unlock your device.
Is the Vaporesso Xros Pro better than a disposable vape?
Absolutely it is! The Xros Pro is exceptional value for money, and significantly cheaper in the long run than consistently using disposable vapes. Using a 10ml bottle of Bar Salts, which have been designed to replicate the popular flavours of disposable vapes, you will get five times the amount of vape juice compared to what is in a disposable vape.

"I’ve tried so many different devices over my years of vaping. Starting out with a simple vape pen kit, before advancing on to bigger sub-ohm devices that chuck some serious cloud, to pod devices, to disposable vapes, before ending up going full circle and using a pod vape as my sole vaping device for the last few years now. When I was offered the chance to review the new Xros Pro for the site, I jumped at the chance to get my hands on one of these devices which are all the rage within the vaping community now. This would be my first Xros kit that I've used, so I was very keen to give it a try.
